It was a very peaceful place to live in. Although its situated right next to the train station and the loud delivery trucks, the windows slide shut very well, blocking out the noise. Its very safe. Security 24/7 and fingerprint system, albeit it became annoying in winter and I had to get assistance from security several times. They have rules in place during exam season about loud noises in the common area upstairs. I found the tenants at FZ to mostly be well behaved and respectful. They built a new common study area, and again, the students were respectful without needing any intervention. Its easy to keep a paper trail of issues because there's a portal for lodging issues. They were pretty quick with fixing my wall socket, but I believe my roommate had to go to the manager as well for an issue, and then it was fixed within 2 days. Our wifi PSU blew a couple of times, they should probably get the correct one, but wifi issues are dealt with within 24 hours from the coms. They could be a bit more transparent with "utility" charges and specify whether it was water or electricity. The charges were in the winter months and less than R100 so my roommate and I assumed it was from our heaters. There are no ovens, just 2 induction stoves so you will definitely need an airfryer. They are quite transparent with fees and deductibles from your deposit so just make sure you read your lease agreement. If you're in 2nd/3rd year and planning on interning/working in December, the move-out date is early Dec (13 December this year) so you'll have to work something out with the management. Its close to both Virgin Active and ZoneFitness, pharmacies, grocery stores, Standard Bank etc. I enjoyed my time at FZ. For a student accommodation place, I think its great and would recommend it, especially to students who are living on their own for the first time.
