I’ve been an avid Hussar’s patron since 2014, and the original Rondebosch restaurant continues to set the standard for steakhouse dining. First opened in Rondebosch in 1964, it remains a Cape Town favourite known for premium steaks, warm service and, of course, its signature chocolate vodka martinis (yum!). I’ve visited twice since arriving back in Cape Town in February, and the experience was once again exceptional. The service is normally outstanding; on this last visit it was a little slow, but our waitress was clearly doing her very best while working a double shift, and she still served us with a smile and real attentiveness. The food was superb and we were made to feel very special for our birthdays. Thank you again for the wonderful food and the birthday spoils. It’s truly the best steak restaurant in town.

We went there to celebrate our anniversary, and our server Daisy was wonderful. They welcomed us with a glass of sparkling wine and two chocolate martinis for dessert to celebrate our anniversary. We tried the Tuesday date special, and the steak was excellent.their house red wine was great too! Daisy was super helpful and amazingly well-trained — she truly belongs in a Michelin-star restaurant.
